BCAAC
BCAAC is a non-profit organization focused on promoting literacy for everyone and supporting Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users, educators, and families in British Columbia. Their vision is to give people of all abilities the opportunity to communicate and thrive in inclusive environments.
BC Ministry of Education and Childcare
The purpose of the British Columbia school system is to enable the more than 570,000 public school students, 89,000 independent school students, and more than 4,500 home-schooled children enrolled each school year, to develop their individual potential and to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to contribute to a healthy society and a prosperous and sustainable economy.
Coding Pals Foundation
Coding Pals is a non-profit organization run by high school students originally based in Vancouver, British Columbia, that has since expanded to many cities across the nation. Coding Pals offers weekly coding classes and continues to be the sole non-profit organization in Vancouver that offers computer programming lessons at zero cost. Powered by passionate high-school students, Coding Pals is equipped with knowledgeable instructors and high-quality resources in hopes of empowering youth with opportunities to engage with Computer Science.
Free Periods Canada
Free Periods Canada is a grassroots non-profit organization on a mission to make menstrual health accessible for Canadians. Started as a student club at UBC in 2016, they have grown to become a national, non-profit in Canada. Since their inception they have grown exponentially; producing impactful research results, educating and connecting with over 400 people through workshops and conferences, distributing period supplies to those in need, and working with UBC to make period supplies free and accessible for students at the Vancouver Campus.
Master of Educational Technology (MET)
The Master of Educational Technology (MET) program educates professionals in the use and impact of digital learning technologies. This fully online graduate program provides a unique opportunity for our students to study and engage in technology-supported instruction, planning and management of learning technologies and eLearning, design and development of digital learning technologies and environments, and digital literacy and digital culture in formal and informal learning contexts.
Outside Play
Outside Play UBC Lab is a team of researchers dedicated to studying children’s outdoor risky play and injury prevention. The lab is led by Dr. Mariana Brussoni and is based at the University of British Columbia and the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.
Room to Play Consulting
Room to Play Consulting offers workshops, teacher professional development, and district consulting on school gardens, outdoor classrooms and pedagogies of play in the elementary school context. With over 25 years of professional experience teaching in urban public elementary schools, founder Megan Zeni sees the benefits of increasing equitable access to outdoor play and learning during the school day as essential work for educators going forward.
Science World
Science World is a charitable non-profit and science centre based in Vancouver, BC that engages learners across the province in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & design and math). Visitors can head to the iconic geodesic dome to explore interactive, hands-on exhibits and galleries that nurture discovery and connection with the environment. In addition, Science World provides professional development programming for both early years and K-12 educators.
UBC Childcare
UBC Childcare offers leading early childhood education at licensed group childcare and school age settings for families in the UBC Vancouver community – from infancy through elementary school. They have grown to become one of the largest and most well-respected childcare providers in Canada, with 31 unique settings, more than 250 skilled, certified and dedicated educators and staff, and over 760 children enrolled.
UBC Faculty of Education – Department of Early Childhood Education (ECED)
The Early Childhood Education (ECED) unit works across UBC’s Faculty of Education to offer a number of undergraduate and graduate programs focused on the early years (children from birth to age 9). ECED programs allow teachers, early childhood educators, and other early childhood education professionals to inquire into their work with young children, and offer opportunities to explore issues in early childhood research, theory, and practice.

The Language and Literacy Education Department is a collective of educators committed to social justice in their work with students, colleagues, partners, and community members. As leaders in the field, they aim to establish antiracist, decolonial, and sustainable communities that affirm human, linguistic, and epistemological diversity and equity.
UBC Faculty of Education – Learning Design and Digital Innovation (LDDI)
LDDI supports the design, development and deployment of innovative teaching practices in the Faculty of Education. LDDI is a hub of innovation and creativity, and is here to help instructors create engaging learning experiences for their students by supporting them with new learning technologies, and with curriculum and instructional design. The LDDI team helps instructors think creatively and push the boundaries using new tools, or new ways of applying tools and resources, so that they can get the most impact from their teaching.

The Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) is a collaborative research and knowledge mobilization centre that brings together expertise, from across disciplines and sectors, to contribute to improving conditions that promote an equitable start in life for all children and their families. HELP is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children through interdisciplinary research and mobilizing knowledge.
UBC Rural Teachers
With guidance from the Rural Education Advisory, “Rural Teachers” is a creature of the Rix Professorship of Rural Teacher Education at the University of British Columbia. Their website shines light on many wonderful projects and initiatives in rural education in BC. It brings together the inventive and engaged genius of rural education as it responds to the challenges of our times.
UBC Sustainability
The UBC Sustainability Hub builds on UBC’s sustainability leadership record, and works to reinforce the University’s goal to inspire action for a better world. Their mission is to inspire people to act upon the planet’s most urgent challenges through UBC’s academic and operational sustainability leadership. To realize this mission, they work to embed sustainability across all aspects of UBC’s academic endeavours, focusing on student education and faculty support.
Vancouver Community College
