Edith Lando VLC is proud to announce that grant recipient Dr. Keri Ewart‘s project Inclusive Virtual Immersive Makerspace Experience has taken a remarkable leap forward: The Virtual Makerspace Website was launched during the MET Inclusive Makerspace Conference May 24-25, 2023.
The site includes a wide array of resources, challenges, lesson plans, and even a community board where users can share their thoughts and ideas. The site is designed to be used by makers at all levels and technical abilities. For those who are new to making, there is the opportunity to explore lesson and unit plans, and learn how others have incorporated making and makerspaces into their schools and classrooms. For users seeking a more engaging experience, the Maker Challenges are designed to be thought-provoking activities that encourage exploring content from a new perspective.
Another exciting element of the site is its ability to create community through the idea sharing board. Users are encouraged to share their own lesson plans, challenges, thoughts and ideas, and respond to others’ posts.
The biggest goal of the site is to make Makerspaces available to everyone. Without having to seek out a space or other makers, users can engage in all sorts of activities and learning tools. The site continues to be a work in progress with the future goal of incorporating both virtual reality and augmented reality to enhance the user experience.
