Enhancing Science Education in ECE Classrooms

Let’s Play! Exploring Science with Young Children

Science exploration connects so naturally to the play-based approach to learning! Through play children investigate, test out their ideas and build knowledge about how the world works. This workshop will provide you with lots of tried-and-tested ways to explore science through both gently-guided and free-play provocations.

You will come away from workshop with:

  • Easy ideas that can be used the next day
  • Ways to become a co-learner with children, co-constructing knowledge together
  • Strategies for using your outdoor space and local community for scientific inquiry
  • Techniques for talking with children about their emerging ideas about science
In order to fully participate in the workshop activities, participants will be asked to have a small number of simple materials on hand. A list of required materials will be sent to registrants one week prior to the workshop.

Workshop Date: November 19, 2024

Registration Deadline: November 15, 2024

Sensory Explorers: Create Your Own Nature Backpacks

Participants will come away with the confidence to create simple nature kits (using easily accessible materials) for exploring the forest, park, beach, pond and their own backyard.
