A Collaboration with Coding Pals Foundation and Immigrant Services Society of BC

The Edith Lando Virtual Learning Centre (ELVLC) loves collaborations, and this one’s no exception!

The ELVLC is proud to be facilitating a collaboration between Coding Pals Foundation and Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSBC). With the help of Coding Pals, ISSBC will be able to offer free workshops introducing coding principles using Scratch – a free programming language and online community. These workshops are catered to beginners, and will provide an understanding of how coding works, with opportunities to test out things like loops, conditions, and more!

These upcoming workshops will be offered on May 6th and 7th specifically to ISSBC members ages 12 and up, and hosted at the ISSBC office in New Westminster. They will be facilitated by a high school student from École Sentinel – Marcus Fan. The entire Coding Pals team is made up of dedicated high school students passionate about coding and spreading their knowledge with others. By the end of these workshops, participants will be able to use what they’ve learned to make a single player pong game.
